“The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeons’ Guide to Cosmetic Surgery”

by Josleen Wilson

If you are considering cosmetic surgery, read on.  Author Josleen Wilson, under the guidance of 20 noted experts, has written a straightforward comprehensive book on cosmetic surgery, designed for the layperson.  “The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons’ Guide to Cosmetic Surgery” gives step by step instructions beginning with the basics on how to choose a responsible surgeon to possible post-surgery complications.

This 301 pate guide is just that, a guide for the person contemplating surgery.  It prompts you to ask the right questions, explains the procedures and their limitations, discusses cost, understand what to expect, possible complications, recovery and perhaps most important, whether you are a candidate for surgery.  Procedures covering almost every part of your body, from an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to the well-know facelift, are reviewed.

The average person may find medical literature intimidating and confusing.  Refreshingly, you do not need a medical degree to understand this book.  Through easy to follow explanations, check lists and diagrams you will start forming an educated opinion about the type of surgery in which you have an interest.  Josleen Wilson does not pull any punches.  She provides candid discussions in an unbiased manner, which will only benefit you and the surgeon in the long run.

Plastic surgery is on the rise today.   Our society is transfixed on the wrinkle free, hard body appearance of youth and will go to great lengths to achieve this illusion.  To confer with the majority, you will find there is a specified part of their anatomy they dislike.  According to the ASPRS, a large percentage of these folks are opting for cosmetic plastic surgery to achieve their ideal look.  Not surprisingly, Florida is one of the four “ultra centers” for plastic surgery.

Upon completion of this book, you will have a full grasp of what can and cannot be expected through cosmetic surgery.  The “ASPRS Guide to Cosmetic Surgery” is a fundamental tool for anyone considering cosmetic plastic surgery and provides a necessary starting point in an otherwise confusing web of medical jargon, doctor competition for patients, and of regulations governing medical specialties in this field.
