Cindy has always enjoyed an active lifestyle. Sports, outdoor activities, exercise, fitness, travel, almost anything
involving physical activity she finds interesting. Whether relating to her business endeavors or fitness pursuits, her mind set was to work and play hard.
So, it was not surprising, that in 1991, after the stress of owning and running her own real estate company in New York and starting a marketing business, she decided a lifestyle, career change and relocation were necessary.
After moving to Sarasota, Florida and settling on Siesta Key, Cindy took some time to rejuvenate before embarking on a new career. She became active in the sports community
, participating in the Cartoon Classic Race, Sarasota Herald Tribune 5K and beach runs. She played for the co-ed soft ball team on Siesta Key, had fun inline skating (roller-blading) down Ocean Blvd. and South Beach, tried kitesurfing on Lido, rolled a kayak in the gulf, flew a plane over Venice and enjoyed mindful meditation time alone. She also penned a weekly column - Island Beat - for The Pelican Press Newspaper, wrote several articles for them and West Coast Woman Magazine, and sold advertising.
With a desire to learn more about how to get stronger safely, she hired David Essel as her personal trainer. With David’s guidance and coaching, Cindy got more involved in fitness and decided to venture into a career of health and wellness. In 1994, she became certified as a Physical Fitness Specialist at The Cooper Institute of Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas.
After working as a personal trainer at the Sarasota YMCA and Gold’s Gym for a few years, she realized there was more involved in fitness training than the physical aspect. She returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at the University of South Florida in 1999. Armed with a better understanding of how the body and mind work, her clients benefitted.
Working as a certified personal fitness trainer in Sarasota, Florida for the past 16 years, Cindy has had the pleasure of assisting people of all ages and levels of fitness on their quest to adapt a healthier lifestyle and become more fit. Long-term health and wellness is her main focus. She knows that if you feel good physically, life is better! There may be discomfort at times, but No pain - No gain is NOT her philosophy.
In 2007, Cindy founded The Fitness Concierge of Sarasota, Florida, bringing fitness to individuals and businesses, in their own environment. Realizing the need to expand, in 2009 this website was birthed and The Fitness Concierge became a Limited Liability Company in 2010.
